About me
Dr. Nabin Sharma is an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science, Co-Director of Intelligent Drone Lab, Faculty of Engineering and IT at UTS. He is a computer scientist working at the cutting edge of drone technology who has extensive experience in research and development, and academia. He has more than 16 years of experience in research & development and academia. He has substantial industry experience in software design and development while working on various projects at IBM India Private Ltd. He has secured research grants for projects with funds exceeding AUD $1.6M, in collaboration with industry and academia.
He graduated with a PhD from the School of ICT, Griffith University, Queensland, Australia. Nabin's research interests include also object detection, document analysis, handwritten character recognition, biometrics, machine learning, image processing, and pattern recognition. He have published over 52 papers in referred books, conferences and journals. He is the Chief-Investigator and technical lead for multiple AI-based award winning industry funded projects at UTS. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, a member of ACM, a member of Australian Water Association, and a life member of the Indian Unit for Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence (IUPRAI).

I am a passionate teacher and have several years of teaching experience. My philosophy and scholarly approach to teaching is strongly based on my extensive industry experience, integration of applied research, and a systematic plan-do-check review approach. Producing industry ready graduates and highly skilled researchers has been the core vision
Research and Development
I am a computer scientist with several years of experience in the area of applied Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Image Processing, Handwritten Character Recognition, Object detection and recognition and translation of AI research projects.
AI Specialist
Lead and successfully delivered several impactful AI research projects funded by Industry, Defence, and Academia. My fundamental research area is in computer vision and artificial intelligence, with focus on applied machine learning and AI research, and research translation. On the basis of the success of research projects, their community impact, international reputation, and research translation, I successful received several high impact industry awards and funded projects.
